Product Description
DESIGNED FOR FLARE HANDLEBARS
The Sword’s hoods feature a rounded outer curve to cradle your hand without any sharp edges that cause pressure points. Whether you’re riding with a 45-degree flare or a 0-degree flare, you’ll appreciate the Sword’s ergonomics.
TEXTURED HOOD FOR SOLID GRIP
With raised traction patterns and grippy rubber on the hood and shift levers, you won’t slip, even when it gets a little damp.
HIGH-PIVOT BRAKE LEVER
To achieve greater leverage and reduce reach, we’ve moved the brake lever’s pivot point to a higher position on the shifter body. We’ve also revised the design so that slightly more cable is pulled than on a standard road brake lever, giving you a bit more braking power when needed.
LOWER GEARS THAN A COMPACT DOUBLE
Climbing is hard work—there’s no getting around it. But you can make it easier on yourself with your gear selection. At this point in drivetrain history, compact double sets are a bit old-fashioned. Modern gravel groupsets rely on lower gears to maintain cadence even on steep climbs, and the Sword is firmly part of this new school. The Sword 2x’s lowest gear is 24% lower than that of a compact road bike double crankset. The Sword 1x, with a 40t chainring, is 17% lower. Whether you’re out for a casual ride or tackling a Tour de France stage, this extra gear range will help you reach the finish line in one piece.
ADJUSTING CABLE TENSION WITH AN ALLEN KEY
The derailleur’s cable stop is adjustable, meaning that after installing the front derailleur cable, you can tighten or loosen the cable tension using a 3-mm hex screw on the top of the derailleur.
ORBITAL BARREL ADJUSTER FOR SMOOTH CABLE ROUTING
Many road and gravel bikes feature internal cable routing, which can make routing the front derailleur housing difficult. We’ve developed an industry first: an orbital barrel adjuster that allows for 15 degrees of rotation in either direction. This allows the rear derailleur housing to find the path of least resistance and reduce cable friction.
QUICK AND EASY REACH ADJUSTMENT
Sword’s shift and brake levers are completely separate, allowing them to be adjusted independently to customize the reach. Simply flip back the hood and start dialing in your settings.
QUIET CLUTCH WITH INSTANT ENGAGEMENT
We redesigned our ratchet and pawl clutch from the ground up with two goals in mind: instant engagement and quiet operation. The new Sword rear derailleur delivers both. When it’s time to remove the rear wheel, simply turn the integrated switch at the derailleur cage’s pivot point to disengage the clutch. Sure, it won’t make you ride any faster, but it’s easy to use and disappears when you don’t need it.
